But fate works in mysterious ways. When Rae receives an ancient Egyptian talking board from the local witch, Ophelia, she uses it to enlist the help of the Spirit World to get Billy to notice her.

Talking Boards are commonly used to connect to the spirits of the deceased but in the days of Ancient Egypt they were used by the Great Pharaohs to commune with the Gods. This board now calls to Rae and Ophelia cautions her to follow three important rules. Only conjure up the spirit known as Casey, communicate with positive intentions and always, always close the session with good-bye.

The legend of this blood stained board holds the story of a great Egyptian Prince who promised to love and protect his sister for all eternity. Against his heart and her knowing, the Prince used the board with evil intent. He took both his and his loving sister’s life, this ultimate offering, in exchange for eternal bliss and Godly status.

He thought he and his true love would be together forever, holding dominion over the Afterlife. The Gods were furious at his arrogance and disrespect for the living especially taking a life as pure as his gifted sister’s. Her spirit could transcend the boundaries of both time and space at will, allowing her to help all who were lost, living or dead, find their path. As punishment from the Gods, the Prince’s soul and those of his disciples were condemned to Amenta the world between the life and the death. Should the tainted Spirit Board be used to open a door connecting Amenta to the world of the living it would be devastating to mortals, especially to those who are direct descendants of the this cursed bloodline.

Caught up in the excitement of using the Spirit Board, unintentionally ignoring the advice of Ophelia, Rae stumbles upon three lost souls, Beezer, Ohm and Victoria-Rose. These three hapless ghosts were trapped outside of the Ethereal Realm in Amenta when Rae opened the door by mistake. In hopes of gaining entry into the Afterlife, the ghosts had stolen the very powerful Spirit Map. This Map keeps order in all levels of the Afterlife for it directs the souls of the deceased to their final resting place. Without it, the world of the living would be overrun with aparitions, spirits, ghosts and demons. Alas, the ghosts had no idead they had stolen the Map from Ramun Khalid, the demonic Pharaoh from Ancient Egypt. But soon the three became the most wanted spirits in the Amenta and decided to use the Map to escape. But their inexperience in using it led them to commit some ghostly, fatal errors and instead of arriving in paradise they were trapped in a small and stuffy cell on the outskirts of Amenta. Unable to free themselves, they finally accepted their hopless situation until Rae and her Egyptian board opened the door. Thanks to Rae, they are finally free again but their problems are far from over. Beezer, Ohm and Victoria- Rose still don't know how to use the Spirit Map and if things aren’t bad enough, they are now being hunted by Ramun Khalid.
